Psychotherapy and Counselling for individuals and couples in EC1 & Bloomsbury: Face-to-face; online via Zoom/FaceTime and Walking Therapy, which has the added benefit of taking place in nature.

Experience

I qualified as a counsellor in psychosynthesis in 1999 and received my diploma and MA in psychotherapy in July 2002.  Since 1997 I have run several psychotherapy practices in central London.  I was a trainer at the Institute of Psychosynthesis for 4 years, taught an introductory course to Psychosynthesis at Birkbeck College (London University) for 3 years and have run a course on Psychology & the Voice at the Central School of Speech and Drama.  As well as running my private, clinic-based psychotherapy practice, I offer group or one to one clinical supervision for qualified psychotherapists.

In terms of professional development, I am interested in Davanloo’s ISTDP model and am integrating some of its methodology in my therapeutic work.  Since April 2020 I have been offering online therapy via Zoom and Walking Therapy in Regents Park and the Squares of Bloomsbury. My background is in Media and the Creative Arts.

Approach

I work in an integrative and imaginative way.  Often in a room, sometimes on Zoom or Skype or outdoors with Walking Therapy. In addition to talking, I may encourage you to draw or free-write as ways to help your process flow.  I may also occasionally, make use of guided visualisations and I will recommend that you keep a journal; to track your process and to nurture your creativity. We will pay close attention to your internal felt experience, as it’s not enough to intellectually grasp things.  In fact, intellectualising is often a very good defence against changing anything.  So, at times, you may experience my focus as quite intense and challenging.  Remember though, that my context at all times is, to work with you in a safe and loving way so that with honesty and precision we can bring about the change you have come for.
